I always aspired to be the very definition of a “Protean Woman.” Protean; a word that is seldom used but denotes the capacity to continually change one’s nature, appearance and behavior. “Displaying great diversity or variety; versatile.” As a child, in play and in my imagination, I was tantalized by the idea of becoming someone else.
My first taste of performing came in the first grade in my singing and acting debut as “Mrs. Butterfly.” Ballet and voice lessons would follow with the implicit expectation by my parents that these interests would never become anything more than hobbies.
The idea of a career in “show business” was unthinkable to my Chinese immigrant parents who lectured me on the importance of choosing a stable career, preferably something involving a lab coat or a calculator. They were only a little less distraught when I set off to find work as a television journalist.
Although I was deeply invested in forging a path in broadcast journalism, I never lost my fascination with drama, theatre and acting. While some careers are launched early, there is a special benefit to those who launch later in life.
With the hindsight of age and a bit of acquired wisdom, I believe the skills of engagement and observation I cultivated as a reporter are talents I bring to my acting roles, in creating complex and compelling characters.

This movie revolves around a wedding in Portugal, where the nuptials are nearly derailed by a series of mix ups and misunderstandings. Many of the characters from “A Chateau in the Loire” reappear in this film, including Gayle, the travel blogger who plans a “naughty” surprise for the anxious bride. Cast and crew traveled to southern Portugal for this production.

But even under the wing of two kooky, freewheeling companions, Daria learns she can't run away from everything. My role is Tina, the party girl who knows the best vegan clubs to "heal one's chakras." An entry in the San Diego 48 Hour Film Project, "Sojourn" was selected for the Best of the Fest awards screening.

A team of five expert researchers is called to identify Patient Zero, but fear and distrust emerge as the more dangerous threats, when the team realizes the infected patient is one of them. Suspense partners with horror in this movie that feeds on our collective trauma of battling COVID. My character is researcher Amber Pickett.
